BMW X6's predecessor was the company Rapp Motorenwerke Gmb, founded in 1913 by Karl Rapp . They changed the name in April 1917 , first at BMW X6 (limited company) to end at BMW X6, a year later after its conversion into a corporation. The newly developed 3.0-litre diesel engines now featuring an all-aluminum crankcase raise engine output by 7 kW to 180 kW/245 hp in the BMW X6 Drive30d and, respectively, 15 kW to 225 kW/306 hp in the BMW X6 Drive40d – together with a reduction in average fuel consumption in each case by approximately 10 per cent versus the former models.

The power unit featured in the BMW X6 Drive40d comes with BMW X6 TwinPower Turbo Technology following the Variable Twin Turbo principle where the small turbocharger cuts in just above idle speed and the larger turbocharger is activated under higher load.

BMW X6 has been spotted testing a prototype version of the new facelifted 2012 BMW X6 out in public. The revised SUV will feature mild styling tweaks including new headlights and a new front apron and grille fascia, as well as a rumoured additional variant called the BMW X6 Drive50d, with a large and powerful diesel engine.

Apart from the possible introduction of a new ’50d’ variant, the facelifted 2012 BMW X6 will come with a range of subtle exterior and interior changes.
