The car photographed is the mini cooper model and you can see at the front the lower grille has some new intakes—which offer increased cooling to the front brakes. It is understood buyers will be able to option a Chrome Line package which would see those new intakes have the brightwork shown in these pics. If you’re a real trainspotter you might even notice the headlight cluster has had a minor tweak as well.

Further mini cooper features are Brake Energy Regeneration, previously only available on the mini cooper Point Display that prompts the driver to make upshifts at the most economical time.With a combined city/freeway fuel consumption figure of 3.9L/100km, the theoretical range of 1025km meant the biggest question hung over whether the 174m vertical climb each lap would greatly affect the consumption.

Like the mini cooper engines, the lightweight (123.5 kg) mini cooper engine also offers a torque “Overboost” feature. This injection of an extra 20 Nm of grunt punts peak torque to 260 Nm at short notice, for even swifter overtaking.
